Scary Bits - Graphic or Comic?

The Blood Boar

This is Blood Boar, the half bull and half wrestler.  He likes to crunch human bodies and put their heads on spikes.  He is ten feet tall and bathes in blood. His second favourite food is mums.  He wears a belt and boots.

I've been wondering what to say about The Blood Boar, since it landed in my inbox. Eventually, I decided to tell it how it is. The description by the four classmates is very vivid and a bull/wrestler that bathes in blood and puts human heads on spikes would be a very suitable character for an action film aimed at older children.

However, because there are children helping to write our monster book who are as young as seven, I think we need monsters that are comically disgusting (e.g. covered in bogies) rather than actually vile (e.g. covered in blood). And any human-killing needs to be rumoured rather than graphic. For example, we can know that a monster eats children, but we'll never see it happen and certainly never see anything as gory as a head on a spike.

Thank you for this submission though. Toby, Mathew, Toba and James, I think you would be very good at designing action hero stories. Have you ever tried it?

Odd Eye by Harry from Manor School is much more comical. He bounces around on his big round body and is taller than Godzilla! He has two different sized eyes and a cone on his head. Is it a traffic cone, I wonder?
